Zubaan Books enters the International eBook market in a partnership with Diversion Books

Zubaan Books, India’s pioneering feminist publishing house, has entered into an agreement with Diversion Books for worldwide eBook distribution of its entire English-language trade catalogue.  The international partnership will kick off with forty-five titles, to be made available to online retailers this week, to coincide with International Women’s Day on March 8th.

The initial offering from Zubaan includes both fiction and non-fiction titles, including acclaimed historical fiction exploring the partition of India and Pakistan and its very human ramifications (All Passion Spent by Zaheda Hina), attitudes towards women and sexuality (The Good Indian Girl by Annie Zaidi and Smriti Ravindra), searing memoirs that resonate across all cultures (A Life Apart by Prabha Khaitan), and many others. The list also includes an exciting range of books for children and young adults (Riddle of the Seventh Stone by Monideepa Sahu) under its Young Zubaan imprint.

“We’re delighted that our search for the perfect partner to take our eBooks into the international market has led us to Diversion,” says Urvashi Butalia, Director of Zubaan. “Diversion has not only the marketing expertise we’re looking for but also a commitment and a passion for books that mirrors our own. We’re delighted that readers internationally will now be able to easily access and buy our books online with Diversion Books, and look forward to a long and fruitful collaboration.”

“We’re excited to be partnering with such an important house as Zubaan,” says Mary Cummings, Editorial Director of Diversion Books. “It’s time their list broke into the international market in a bigger way, and we are happy to be able to complement Zubaan’s fantastic list of authors with our digital distribution and marketing expertise.”
